| Yellow, fleshy mushroom. Ready for the pan without cooking. | ||
| Pileus | The cap is 3–12 cm wide, egg-yellow, fading with age, smooth, surface quite flat at first, later form of the fruit body vase- to funnel-shaped, sturdy especially when young, margin wavy and irregularly lobed in age. The flesh is thick and firm, whitish yellow. | |
| Hymenophore | The ridge-like gills are irregularly forked, concolorous with the cap or somewhat paler, decurrent running almost all the way down the stem. | |
| Stipe | The stem tapers down seamlessly from the cap, narrowing at base. | |
| Odour and taste | The smell is pleasant, fruity and the taste is mild, sometimes a little bitter. | |
| Habitat | It is found in all kinds of woods, typically in thin forests with lots of daylight. It often grows in clusters and is quite common in Finland and Sweden. | |
| NB. | The Yellow Chanterelle is easy to recognize and only rarely attacked by larvae. | |
