  *** Edible and delicious
     
    Cap covered with small brown scales. Ready for the pan without cooking.
     
  Pileus The pale cap is 510 cm in diameter, covered with tiny brown scales. The flesh is thick, white, staining red when bruised.
     
  Lamellae The gills are close, gray-brown or reddish when young, turning dark brown at maternity. The edge of the gill is pale.
     
  Stipe The stem is tall, fairly slim and it has a ring underneath of which there are white scales.   
     
  Odour and taste No specific smell, the taste is mild.
     
  Habitat The Blushing Wood Mushroom is found in conifereous woods, often under old fir trees. Do not pick them near traffic as they gather up poisonous heavy metals.
     
  NB. This delicious mushroom is quite common in Finland and in Sweden.
