The cap is 10–20
cm (even 30 cm) broad, the surface dry,
pale yellowish, covered with brown scales. The flesh is thick, white, staining
yellow, sometimes red when bruised or in age. |

The gills are close,
cream coloured, sometimes gray
reddish,
and blackish brown when old. . |

Stipe |
The white stem is 10–20
cm long, quite equal but sometimes enlarged at base. It has a big, thin,
white skirt-like ring. |

Odour and taste |
Smells and tastes like almond. |

Habitat |
The Prince
is found in forests and parks, most commonly under big
old fir trees. Do not pick them near traffic as they gather up poisonous heavy metals. |

is not very common in Finland nor in Sweden. |
